Protein power cake

This is something we all need > a protein packed treat fit for any occasion! Whether it be pre gym fuel, post workout recovery or just a little something to keep us going throughout the day! A cake filled with wholesome, healthy ingredients? Let’s learn a little more…

1 large banana

These provide a nutritious source of carbohydrates for energy pre workout, or to replenish glycogen stores post workout! Rich in potassium, it aids muscular contractions and helps blood flow and therefore nutrient and oxygen flow!

75g protein powder (chocolate)

This not only increases flavour, but protein quantity! Protein is made up of amino acids, which are the building blocks for muscles.

50g coconut flour

Made up of ground coconut, it is calorie dense and provides 9kcal of energy per gram. It is also gluten free and a good source of fibre!

1tbsp coconut oil

Coconut is a medium chained fatty acid, mainly built up of Lauric acid and digested for energy!

2 eggs

Not only a good source of protein, they are rich in micronutrients including vitamin A, B6, B12, Iron and Selenium!

1 tsp baking powder

(Provides the lovely cake rise)

1tbsp coffee + 25ml warm water (optional)

A caffeine kick to keep you going throughout the day!

50g 70% dark chocolate

Drizzle over the top to create some extra antioxidant indulgence, which won’t have damaging effects on the waistline!

 

A tasty, nutrient rich cake to indulge on any time throughout the day! All you need to do is mash it all together and chuck in the oven for 25 minutes on 180’c. Super easy way to make a well rounded treat to last the rest of the week! Happy prepping!
